Who can see your viewing activity?
Also, we are recording this, so if any presenters’ friends/families could not stay on or cannot stay on through the whole program, we’ll be sure to share the link. Thanks, everyone, for your patience!
Would you say people liked graphics they could better interpret or understand?
Yes, it did thank you!
How can these new models start to be implemented?
Great job, Robert and Chandler, and thanks to Dr. Ahlquist!
Penguineering Research might be my new fave word!
“How can these new models start to be implemented?” We are in talks with the National Hurricane Center and once they look through the research studies done on this graphic, they’ll decide what to implement. We hope this graphic will be used possibly starting with an online website implementation
Alliterations, portmanteaus, I am already sold
I can also mention that the NWS has already started to operationally use similar graphics as separate components from the Cone of Uncertainty, particularly in the New Orleans area during Hurricane Ida, so a shift to using a model similar to ours is something that the NWS/NHC is seriously considering.
How can we get involved in future events! I love this
Does "penguineering" refer to the penguin as the symbol for the Linux operating system? Was consideration given to a different name?
Hi Elle...question: Did you find that the adults as well as the children had a learning experience in your Palooza?
Here is the link to our website: https://www.penguineeringteam.org/ There is a tab for getting involved with the Penguineering Team, and you can also keep an eye out for us on social media…my next task for this semester is setting up our social media accounts!
We considered many different names but decided on Penguineering as it combines the primary two elements of our research (penguins and engineering), and it demonstrates the family-friendly reputation we hope to have!
There was definitely something for everyone to learn at Penguin Palooza! We got feedback that children and adults had a lot of fun, and we tried to share facts that might not be widely-known so that adults could learn something new too!
Loved the Penguineering presentation! Can you please elaborate on the lessons taught through your Penguin Palooza activities?
Here is a link to the review document that goes over all of the activities at the event and the lessons taught at each one! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EVnY2c_YUAcKVDZpj39659VJb28pOvjjTNkwQY9LksI/edit?usp=sharing

Great Job Derrick!
Proud of you Derrick!!
You mentioned the possibility of a required diversity course. Do you think a training like Kognito focused on diverse experiences would help?
Thank you so much for the support everyone!
