21:43
Hello!

21:43
Hi!

21:44
Hello!

21:45
Hello!

21:47
Hello!

21:47
Hi!!

21:53
The rate of Hi! to Hello! seems heavily biased towards Hi!'s, neat

22:14
I cant unmute

22:16
Hello

22:19
Hello! Looking forward to this!

22:21
Hi everyone!

22:24
host is mute me

22:24
Don't think anyone can

22:27
feel better David

22:33
hello!!

22:38
Get better David!

22:44
ok

23:53
Im a jr with a AA degree

24:29
There's no triple yes option tho

24:30
who will the judges be?

24:42
presentation deadline

24:43
What kind of audience are we presenting to ?

25:02
LOL

25:09
I second Angel's question

25:54
whats the presentation deadline

26:29
video ya furc

26:39
ok

28:52
How do you split up the poster sessions?

29:47
thank you

30:47
is this powerpoint going to be available after this meeting?

31:15
that poster is too much text

31:21
great, thank you!

32:59
How does registration work for group presenters?

33:32
If more than one party from our research group are participating in presenting, can we pay separately, or is it considered a group payment by default?

33:36
If the school is paying for you, will you get an email if there are problems with the payment?

33:38
if in a group payment, how does the school submit the fee for the group?

33:42
As first time presenters we are applying for the waiver.

34:03
I conducted research at Valencia but now attend UCF so I put UCF on my registration. Are they still able to pay my registration fee?

35:38
Can you explain more about the fee waiver

37:15
How will we know when our application for funding is accepted by our institution?

37:28
Also, are research mentors considered co-presenters?

38:17
the cost is $15 if our institution doesn't fund an individual presenter right?

38:31
Its only $15 anyway

38:34
I might be skipping ahead, but do we list our mentors' names on the poster, even if they are not attending?

39:19
We recommend including your mentors

39:35
*mentors' names on the poster, we'll address more poster questions soon!

39:36
OK, thank you!

39:55
non-presenting attendees include our mentors, correct?

40:27
Do non presenting attendees need to pay the fee as well ?

40:53
Would mentors have to pay the fee as well?

40:57
^^

41:25
Yes, non-presenting attendees must pay the $15 ticket fee

41:55
How will the live Q&A work?

41:57
Will every presentation have a live Q&A

42:02
also to clarify, that does include mentors as well!

43:46
What would be examples of topics to use?

43:47
We can upload a pre-recorded video file from our device instead of sending out a YouTube video we would create?

43:47
just to clarify, are you recording yourself presenting a paper?

43:47
Is the poster uploaded as a PDF? And what format is the video recorded? Is ZOOM OK?

44:12
Would you mind explaining the process on how to create a poster and what platform we create that on ?

44:38
The poster should be a PDF yes, and Zoom is okay to record your video!

44:40
What format does uTUBE permit for your video

44:41
I’ve used google slides in the past for making a poster

44:43
do we have to include our face in the video

44:48
Could you please share links or a website we can get templates for the virtual posters?

44:54
do we complete chats to answer questions or is it a zoom style question and answer session

44:54
So the conference is on Whova, not Zoom?

44:55
We're going to address additional poster creation information soon!

45:00
How many students/groups submitted Abstracts to this competition?

45:16
If we are in a group, should it be one video for all of us, or individual videos?

45:33
the video is of us talking about the poster right?

45:50
so the q/a is through the chat?

45:52
Is there any opportunity to take a practice run at this before the conference. Is it functional to presenters prior to presentation?

46:04
How long do students present and monitor the Q and A

46:05
For the video, do we record our narration over moving slides, or should we record ourselves talking to the camera?

46:06
Will the Q&A include voicechat, or just text chat?

46:07
Will we be giving another presentation during the poster session?

46:13
re handouts links to where

47:17
We are pre-recording the video and then uploading it on YouTube?

47:38
YouTube has public, unlisted, and private. Unlisted links should still work, right?

47:42
Does each member of your group need to create a profile or just one?

48:02
Can we use things within the video besides the poster? Our project has lots of very visual things that we could show in it

48:28
Can we do a slideshow and present that for our video or does it have to be the poster

50:04
for the live QandA portion you said that we would be typing our responses or somehow answering them on video?

50:35
Do you "grade" people in categories such as Finalists, Honorable Mention etc.

50:36
So the presentation will be the video and then just a Q and A discussion?

51:10
We are not grading or awarding prizes to projects, the conference is a celebration rather than a competition :)

51:18
the actual video presentation is only 2-3 minutes?

51:21
So the live Q&A is only using the chat function on Whova? Not mics/voicechat?

51:27
seems short

52:20
How long can the video be ?

52:33
WHat happens if the video runs longer than 3 minutes?

53:24
The video should be 2-3 minutes in the format of an "elevator pitch" discussing and introducing your project in general terms appropriate for a multidisciplinary audience

53:41
Will you be sending the certification to all of the group participants or just the presenter

54:02
Will the live Q&A only last our 2-3 minute presentation or will it last the entire hour session of poster presenters?

54:28
Will we all receive an abstract book ?***

54:29
If we need to request the video be 5 minutes, who do we contact?

54:47
you can direct inquiries to FURC2021@fsu.edu !

54:53
An abstract book would be cool

55:09
Agreed!!! Id love to read everyones

55:16
Agreed!

55:16
same!

55:28
^

55:45
abstract book please!

56:39
Can we add background music to the videos?

57:41
what kind of music would u put?

58:06
I would just add somewhat-quiet elevator music.

58:15
ok nice

58:39
It may take a bit more effort, but I would suggest someone use OBS if Zoom doesn't work for recording. (Open Broadcaster Software)

01:00:10
Could you send poster templets we could download to complete our posters?

01:00:23
^

01:00:30
^

01:00:54
FAU has these templates, if it helps: https://www.fau.edu/provost/posters.php

01:01:09
makesigns.com

01:01:16
If we are presenting through Zoom does the size of it matter, especially since it is fitting on a screen??

01:01:18
Thank you!

01:01:24
If someone wants to make their poster board from scratch, draw.io might work even though poster boards isn't it's intended use

01:01:30
the ones for fau are for SURF

01:01:39
Can this PowerPoint be shared with us?

01:01:45
theyre pre approved just for their program

01:01:57
The ones for FAU have automatic fau signs on it I think

01:02:06
They can be modified, though.

01:02:34
I find it easiest to do it on Powerpoint

01:02:35
Yea as long as the sign can be removed they are good poster to use

01:02:55
^

01:02:57
everything in comic sans

01:03:02
LOL

01:03:10
what font again?

01:03:17
serif

01:03:18
serif fonts

01:03:22
thank you

01:03:34
No Wingdings

01:04:24
I like powerpoint too

01:05:39
Can this PowerPoint be shared with us?

01:05:45
Google slides is also easier to go back and forth with your mentor

01:06:01
the powerpoint is going to be on their website with this video

01:06:10
When is the deadline for submitting the video

01:06:13
thank you!

01:06:23
feb 21

01:07:20
So for the video, should we print out a poster and present it as if in person OR simply have the poster on the screen and overlay audio?

01:07:29
can we allow group members to respond to Whova questions as well?

01:07:38
Do you divide the presentations into groups? For example more business related vs. science?

01:07:38
If anyone here is from USF they have the digital media commons. one of the librarians for the DRC is Barbara Lewis and she is amazing

01:08:28
If printing out the poster works better for you that is all good, but it's also fine to have the poster on screen with overlaid audio or video, such as the split screen option with Zoom!

01:08:43
Also, will we have “contact cards” or links to exchange info with other members or attendees?

01:08:58
The presentations will not be divided into specific groups, the assignment of each poster session is random !

01:09:32
Yes, there will be sections on your Whova profile where you can fill in your information, including social media and contact info!

01:09:46
are there any video presentations ewe can look at for reference

01:09:51
Can we get a direct link to where this recording will be posted?

01:09:52
^^

01:09:52
This video is available on the website or through an email?

01:09:52
Is there a specific font size for the poster ?

01:10:04
this video will be on their website

01:10:09
For overlaid video with the poster, 100% OBS should work if Zoom doesn't

01:10:10
Thanks!

01:10:18
Chani - I think they recommended no smaller than 24pt font

01:10:30
I know USF did a research conference and posted it to YouTube. May be able to get some ideas from there

01:10:53
When will we get access to Whova?

01:10:57
https://www.floridaundergradresearch.org/info-session-and-spotlight

01:11:28
I have another question about the registration fee

01:11:30
Feb 8

01:11:37
Someone asked a similar question - can we enable our mentor to help answer Q&A questions?

01:12:01
Can we have the link to this presentation in the chat?

01:12:12
it'll be on the website

01:12:19
Is there like a "allow this Whova account to answer questions" type feature

01:12:19
^ thanks

01:12:31
will the attendees need to scroll and choose what to see or will all the events flow continuously?

01:13:01
Right, just want to make sure I won't be the only one able to answer questions on Whova

01:13:26
Just make sure, we are five undergrad students working on the research, should we all pay for the event, or just the presenter?

01:14:29
Did you make many abstract denials?

01:14:38
Attendees will be able to view the events and schedules for each day, so you will be able to choose what workshops and such to attend

01:14:57
Thank you

01:15:23
Does anyone else think of Jay-Z every time someone says Whova? lol

01:15:41
haha!

01:16:11
When will we find out our presentation times?

01:16:15
Got it !

01:16:23
can we enable our mentor to help answer Q&A questions?

01:16:38
Is there a different deadline by when we should make our Whoova account?

01:16:40
^^ this would be very helpful

01:17:04
okay thank you

01:17:14
The given link takes me to the FURA promotion page but I do not see a section with explicit links to the presentation. Will the powerpoint be posted with the recorded video after the session ends?

01:17:31
Yes, the presentation and video will be posted afterward

01:17:50
thx

01:17:55
Whova account will be available after Feb. 8. You will then have until Feb. 21 to complete the profile. However, it appears as if we can all work on our video presentations prior to then and simply upload to WHOVA when available?

01:17:57
if we have class during one of the workshops, are we excused from class or do we not attend the workshop?

01:18:12
How/when do we make the Whova account?

01:18:14
Thank you David and Alexa - you guys did great navigating all these questions!

01:18:20
also will we be answering questions via chat or over mic?

01:18:34
We all receive a link from WHOVA on or after Feb. 8, 2021

01:18:34
Chat only

01:18:40
It would also be helpful to have a way to list preferred presentation slots

01:18:45
to minimize those conflicts

01:18:52
thank you

01:19:40
will there be a group face book or portal for this FURC?

01:19:59
will there be a way to sort through the many presentations to view posters in our desired field of interest since we won’t have time to see them all?

01:20:17
Will the workshops be available for 6 months as well?

01:20:34
Yes, I believe the workshops will also be available !

01:21:06
Currently there is no designated group facebook for FURC 2021, but we have a public facebook for FURC that we encourage you to follow!

01:21:35
Additionally, Whova has a number of social capabilities, so attendees can create their own meeting rooms and talk with each other further!

01:21:47
I don't know if someone already asked, but must we also upload the paper for our study to whova?

01:21:47
thank you!

01:22:25
Thank you for your time! This was very helpful!

01:22:27
I like the Christmas decoration you have going on.

01:22:28
Thank you!! This was great!

01:22:28
thank you!!

01:22:29
Thank you!

01:22:30

01:22:31

01:22:32

01:22:41

01:22:46

01:22:47
Thank you!

01:22:47

01:22:48

01:22:56
thank you!

01:22:59
Thank you for taking the time!

01:23:13
Have a great day! thanks!

01:24:50
Should we avoid turning the poster into a “copy and paste” of manuscript? Are their data requirements we should include (like participant demographic data/participant count/statistical analysis methods, etc.?

01:26:25
There are not specific data requirements, but we recommend following the recommendations from your abstract reviewer and your specific field's standards. Since this conference welcomes research in all stages of completion, if you do not currently have results or specific data related to that, it's okay!

01:28:22
thank you

01:28:28
Thank you!
